A 19th-century take on the original whiskey cocktail. Rye stirred with Maraschino, bitters, and a dash of absinthe.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Rye Whiskey
  • ¼ oz Maraschino Liqueur
  • 2 dash Absinthe
  • 2 dash Angostura Bitters

Garnish: Lemon peel

How to make it

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice until well chilled.
  2. Strain over a large cube into an old fashioned glass.
  3. Express a lemon peel over the top and drop it in.
